This is a lifestyle and travel blog written by a coffee-snob and complete health-nut. Here you will find everything from travel guides, hacks and itineraries for a specific destination to personal stories about moving across the world. Be prepared for lots of photos of coffee, food and bucket-list travel experiences. Check out my bucket-list here.
My name is Leigh. I’m a twenty-something South-African who packed up her life in the trendy and cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, to move across the world to a small town in Alberta, Canada, with her then-boyfriend, Craig. Madness right? Read about why we moved to Barrhead here.
A month later Craig got down on one knee and made it official while we were celebrating Christmas in Banff (insert ring selfie).
Durbanite at heart.
I am actually a Durbanite. Born and raised in this laid-back, seaside city, I still consider it my home. I help my mom run a little guesthouse at our family home in Durban which has gotten a little too big for us (me being in Canada and all).
Cape Townian Student.
I moved to Cape Town, at barely-18-years-old, to study at the University of Cape Town – best decision of my life! Cape Town is one of my favourite cities in the world. It’s packed full with coffee shops, amazing restaurants, culture and arts. Plus, you have a choice of a beach day, a mountain hike or a day wine-tasting in stunning vineyards. Add this to your travel bucket-list, you won’t be sorry! Check out the blog posts and travel guides on my blog here.
Housewife-life in a small town.
While I jokingly describe myself as a “professional housewife”, I am actually a qualified lawyer. And psychologist. Neither of which I currently practice in. Instead, I’ve spent a year settling in to a small town called Barrhead, about an hour outside Edmonton, while my husband works as a GP in the local clinic. It hasn’t been easy and I’ve written a bit about it on my blog too, over here.
Travelling every chance we get.
Craig and I both caught the travel bug, young, having travelled quite a bit with our parents. Now, we explore the world together every chance we get. Check out the list of all the places we’ve been so far here & the in-depth travel story here. (Several blog posts still to catch up on).
But I have other interests too.
This past year, we also bought a house and now I am slightly obsessed with home decor, trendy new pop up shops (+ coffee shops) and exploring Edmonton as a tourist when we aren’t travelling.
I’m also a foodie. BUT I balance this with health and fitness. So I guess you can say you’re likely to see all of the above on my blog.
